Berkleemusic instructor Loudon Stearns examines Ableton Live Racks. While giving an overview of the four types of Live racks, Loudon shows how Racks provide modularity and parallelism to your Live set.
Racks provide a way to group devices within a Live set and save the group as a preset to be used in other projects. Then, with the addition of Chains, multiple parallel processes can happen simultaneously. This allows for layering of synths in instrument Racks, complex arpeggiation in MIDI Racks, complex processing in Effect Racks, and efficient mixing in Drum Racks.
